Summary
I created an app called Your College Life Organized (aka CLO). It is intended for young females who have trouble organizing their busy college life. CLO organizes their everyday tasks, communication, calendar, and assignments/due dates as well as syncs to your Outlook college account to automatically add reminders/due dates to your app. My client wanted to reach their audience through Instagram posts and app store ads to call them to download the app.
Brainstorming
I first started brainstorming ideas for a name. I already had the concept and purpose of the app figured out, but I needed something unique and catchy to grab my audience's attention up against my competition. I finally came to the realization that to sum the whole app up perfectly, it needed to be called: Your College Life Organized. From there I knew it needed an acronym to create a nice logo, so I started with just the letters and later added the folded pencil illustration as the "L" to help indicate this app's category: College.
Problem & Solution
My client is fresh out of college wishing to become an entrepreneur and create businesses to improve the lives of young women. As a woman who experienced college life herself, she found that one of the main roadblocks in college is the lack of organizational tools available. She understands that college assignments themselves can be very difficult to manage and schedule; and on top of that, you have everyday tasks (bills, work, relationships, etc.) to organize as well. Therefore, she asked me to create an app for college females who long for an organized life that feels and looks less overwhelming. As a Graphic Designer, I took my client's vision and brought it to life by creating a 5-page app consisting of:
-Assignments page: Each block consists of a title, class title, description, and due date. You also get the choice of crossing an assignment OR checking it off. My client wanted customization across the app to provide users with their own ways of organizing their work.
-Calendar Page: My inspiration as a designer was the Google calendar. I feel it has lots of customization tools, therefore I added a hamburger menu that allows you to switch from month display to day and week. Another option is to sync your app to Outlook & Microsoft Teams, as many schools use this software for email and scheduling.
-Home page: This page is designed as a dashboard, giving you an overview of your day and due dates.
- Tasks Page: This page organizes everyday tasks that college students need reminders for throughout their week. They can select the reminder option to receive alerts to complete these tasks.
-Community Page: This page is meant to organize communication with students within your classes so that users may help one another and plan study sessions all in the same place.

Logo, Color Scheme & Fonts
When creating the app, I wanted to create a space that felt organized AND aesthetically pleasing for my target audience (young college females). That's why I used dark and light purples as well as pastel yellow to create a welcoming space for them to organize whatever they may need. I used flowy and rounded fonts to make it feel feminine and welcoming and created a logo that was simple but recognizable.
Instagram Post
To boost their social media presence, I created an Instagram post to get their page started. The post is meant to grab a college student's attention through the overwhelming image of books piling up. This call to action will lead users to download the app.
App Store Ad
App store ads always help grab one's attention when searching for a specific tool. When college students begin to search for organizational tools on their phones, CLO will be at the top of the list showing off their ratings and abilities. This will lead the users to download the app because the apps at the top of the list are perceived as trustworthy and of better quality.
